Graftings
Based on the ancient art of plant grafting as a method of combining desirable elements of plants. Marjan Verstappen has created botanical illustrations of non-existent species by cutting up telephoto images of alpine plants native to Aotearoa New Zealand. The improvisational drawings begin as selections of textures and forms, and are built up into impossible plants.
